Reports are of guests being so terrified that they've actually left in the middle of the night and stayed at the Holiday Inn across the street! Some have been known to stay in their cars all night. There are reports of a child being levitated by Mary, the ghost of a Midwife still searching for the child she delivered stillborn at the house ages ago. Other reports of phenomena include: cold spots, the smell of lilacs, disembodied voices calling the names of guests in the middle of the night, banging on the second floor windows, and running faucets turned off by unseen hands. The lucky raffle winner will stay in the room formerly known as The Jennie Wade Room. This room is beautiful, comfortable and very haunted. Take a chance if you dare. Be the first at our event to experience the Farnsworth House. This is not for a chance to investigate the whole house. You may however investigate The Haunted Jennie Wade Room as part of your winning. You must follow all hotel rules.
JENNIE WADE HOUSE INVESTIGATION
Who was Jennie Wade? Mary Virginia Wade, or better known as Jennie Wade, was the only civilian killed during the American Civil War Battle of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania on July 3, 1863. Jennie was killed while baking bread for Union soldiers in the now famous tourist destination The Jennie Wade House. She was struck by a single bullet that traveled through two wooden doors and was killed instantly. Jennie Wade was 20 years old. The house looks very much the same as it did over 140 years ago. There are reports of children playing under the beds moving the bed skirts, and chains moving by themselves. Photos of spirits have been captured when taken in mirrors, foot steps of ghostly soldiers can be heard, and there are claims of the phantom smell of baking bread. This 4 hour investigation, is open to 30 people only. This is for Friday night, March 27th, 2009 only and lasts from 10pm to 2am. You may do this ghost hunt along with The Farnsworth House on Saturday night. Tickets are $25.00 each. You must have a ticket to Phenomenology 101 prior to purchasing a ticket for the investigation. Must be 14 years of age. SOLD OUT
